The arrival of Ava’s first passenger train was a major event. Mayor Carl H. Burdett came out for the occasion and gave a speech on the rear platform of the train to an excited crowd. He then presented Mr. Quigley a $20,000 check raised by Ava citizens and local businessmen for bringing the railroad to Ava.
